TheTSF EngineeringDepartmentis composed of tailings storage facilityengineering as the main specialty, and its business scope includes the consultation, design and research of solid waste landfill disposal projects such as tailings pond, red mud pond, mud discharge pond, ash yard, manganese slag yard, phosphogypsum yard, andgarbage landfill site, andwater conservancy projects, hydraulic structures, roads and bridges in the reservoir areaand general contracting of projects. In the field of TSFdesign,CINFis at the national leading levelin China.

CINFhas strong technical force and currently employs 22 engineers, including2 senior engineers at the researcher level (senior engineers with excellent results), 12 senior engineers and 7 engineers. Presentlythere are more than 20 registered engineers of various types, including registered geotechnical engineers, registered safety engineers, registered evaluators, registered construction engineers, registered supervision engineers, etc.

CINFhas 2 experts ofthe National Emergency Management Department and 6 experts ofprovincial level. In recent years, CINF have carried out a large number of technological innovations especially in the construction of reservoirs in alpine and high altitude areas, the design of high dams (super-high dams), the construction of dams with fine-grained tailings, the construction of dams in karst areas, environmental protection and comprehensive utilization of tailings. We have achieved fruitful results, and many technological innovations have reached the international and domestic leading levels, making important contributions to the promotion of scientific and technological progress in the industry.

TSF by Upstream Damming ——­­Luchanggou TSF of Luoyang Luanchuan Molybdenum Group Ltd.

Luchanggou TSF is located at Luchanggou, about 0.4km east of the Maquan Concentrator of the No.2Mineral Processing Company. It was initially designed by CINF Engineering Co., Ltd and was put into operation in October 1982.In 2006 and 2009, CINF undertook the Phase II and Phase III TSF expansion engineering design. In 2016, CINF conducted the Phase IV TSF expansion engineering, resulting in final fill dam crest elevation of 1485.0 m, total dam height of 292 m, the total capacity of 9957 x 104m3as Grade II tailing storage facility.

TSF By Centerline Embankment ——TSF of Qulong Copper Mine of Tibet Julong Mining Company

The Qulong TSF is located in Jiamagou, Mozhugongka County, Tibet. The base dam is with crest elevation of 4080m and the dam height of 90m. The TSF is dammed by centerline method. The final dam is with crest elevation of 4260m, total dam height of 270m, and total storage capacity of 1.08 billion m3. It is a Grade I TSF. The total catchment area of the TSF is about 170.58km2.A vertical concrete cutoff wall is installed at upstream of the base dam, and the maximum wall depth is about 119m.In order to prevent the tailings leakage from adversely affecting the surrounding environment, a 1.5mm thick HDPE film is used for seepage-proofing in the whole dam area.  To protect the ecological water off the TSF, retaining dam is built in TSF. Off-site ecological water diversion tunnel is set in front of the dam to lead ecological water to the downstream  of tailing storage facility, and the tunnel has total length of about 7.2km Flood drainage system is designed with the flood drainage mode of drainage well-shaft-drainage tunnel, drainage tunnel has total length of about 4.4km, and 11 drainage wells are built .

The TSF is China first project in the domestic tailing storage industry with very high dam and very large capacity.  The TSF dam foundation is of a quaternary accumulated layer with a large permeability coefficient. It is difficult to build a vertical concrete cutoff wall with a depth of about 119 m at an altitude of 4000 m. In addition, high-altitude construction, anti-freezing  of drainage wells and other RC structures, ore discharge in winter are big challenges for this project.



Flat Land type All-round Dammed TSF——TSF of Jiaojia Gold Mine of Shandong Gold Company

TSF of Jiaojia Gold Mine of Shandong Gold Companyis located in the laizhou coastal area of Yantai, Shandong,

it is a typical seaside flat-land all- around dammed upstream TSF. The project has integrated the original four adjacent tailing dams with higher capacity upward .The Phase I expansion project has accumulation level of 45 m, total dam height of 35 m, the total capacity of 2086.5 x 104m3(additional   capacity of 1036.52086.5×104m3), the Phase II project has accumulation elevation of 65 m, total dam height of 55 m, the total capacity of2800.9×104m3, as Grade III TSF.The project is a typical example in the TSF industry by upstream all-round damming with fine particle tailings fill dam



TSF in the Chemical Industry ——Baiyan TSF of Wenfu  Phosphate   Mine

Wengfu Phosphate Mine is under Wengfu (Group) Co., L td.. The mine is located in Wengan County, Fuquan City, Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, South of Guizhou Province.

The Baiyan TSF is located in Baiyan Village of  Niuchang town,FuquanCity. The initial design was undertaken by Zhonglan Lanhai Design and Research Institute. The basic design began in 1988, the detailed design was completed in 1992, and the initial dam construction was completed and it  was put into operation in 1995.

TSF is built by upstream damming , the initial dam is 35m high with crest elevation of 1190m. The final fill dam crest elevation is 1225.0m, later filled up to 1230m with total TSF capacity of about 1149×104m3,dam height of 75m.

In 2013, CINF undertook the engineering design of TSF expansion project. Upstream tailing damming was adopted from 1230m level. The final fill dam elevation is 1272m , total capacity is up to 3712×104m3,max. total dam height is 117m as Grade II TSF.  


Dry-based Tailing Storage Facility  ——Longjingwan Phosphate Gypsum Storage Facility of Guizhou Kaiyang Phosphate Mine

In 2017, CINF undertook the overall upgrading and planning design of Longjingwan Phosphate Gypsum Storage Facility, which is a dry-based hosphate gypsum storage facility by dam tail discharge with annual max. phosphate gypsum storage of 600×104t/a, China largest dry-based phosphate gypsum storage facility in terms of stacking height and operation capacity . The present design dam height is 148m, the total capacity below 955m level is up to 5041×104m3.

Based on the dam site topography, for the dam  future expansion, elevation will be 990m  with total dam height of 183m, total storage   capacity of 6708×104m3 as Grade II TSF


TSF in the Karst Area ——JiangwanTSFof Guangxi Huayin Aluminum Co., Ltd.

Guangxi Huayin Aluminum Co., Ltd. is located in Debao County, Baise Vity, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it owns Debao Mine property and Jingxi Mine property .Jiangwan TSFserves the Mapai Washery of Debao Mine property. Jiangwan Clay Dam has original design crest elevation of 870m, total storage of 2,088×104m3, usablestorage of 1,880×104m3, and service life of 9.84 years. After change in 2013, final crest elevation is 884m, and 3 external dams have height of 56.5m, 59.7m and 14m respectively; with maximum dam height of 59.7m, total capacity of 2848×104m3and usable capacity of2528×104m3 as Grade-III dam.
